POSITION: Network Engineer
telMAX provides telecommunications services in the GTA, focused on the Regions of Durham and York. Our mission is to provide homes and businesses with exceptionally reliable, fast, secure, and affordable fibre Internet, TV and home phone services.
This is a great opportunity to become a key member of a growing ISP (Internet Service Provider). As a member of the Network Engineering team, you will be responsible for keeping “Canada’s Fastest Internet” (as per PC Mag) running reliably. Building new sites, improving processes, hardening configs, fixing well-intentioned automation... what you bring to the table will shape what this company becomes. We are looking for engaged and exceptional technical professionals and have two spots to fill.
In this role, you must be on-site three days per week, based in Stouffville, Ontario, with field time in our York region service areas. You will report to the Network Engineering Manager and be encouraged to grow in your career in ways not available in a larger company. Once trained, you will be part of a rotating 24/7 support team with compensation for standby time and time in lieu of any service demands. To succeed in this role, you must be a quick learner with effective communication skills, patient under pressure with determination to see long-term projects move forward.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Five years relevant work experience with networking, servers, telecommunications
- Preference given to Juniper & Cisco certificate holders
- Linux familiarity and an understanding of virtualization
- Preference given to GPON experience
- Scripting familiarity in a language of your choice
- Database familiarity
- Preference given to fibre aptitude such as OTDR, splicing or knowledge of the outside plant
