General Labourer / Helper

Job description

D-W Wilson is a maintenance company in the oil and gas industry. Our head office is in Fort St. John, BC, and we operate throughout the NEBC region. We are looking for labourers to start on a variety of projects with both camp and local work starting May 2022. Labourers are responsible to take direction from the Lead Hands and Project Supervisors and will complete a variety of tasks in their daily duties.

Requirements:

• H2S, OFA1, CSO and Fall Arrest/Protection
• Aerial Lift, Confined Space, Gas Detection, Ground Disturbance, Fit Tests (MSA, Scott, Draeger) an asset
• High school degree or equivalent educational experience
• Must be 18 years of age
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat, and lift to 40 pounds
• Must be comfortable climbing up tall ladders, working at elevated levels
• Positive attitude and work ethic
• Able to work independently or as an active member of a team
• Excellent interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
• A recent 12 panel drug test, completed in the last three months is also required

Responsibilities:

• Unload tools, prepare site materials, stack, and set up equipment
• Follow instructions from lead hand or supervisor
• Work with pipefitters or welders at their direction to build and install piping or to remove piping
• Use construction and maintenance tools and equipment as trained and directed to complete daily tasks
• Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment
• Ensure regulated and proper headgear, earplugs, gloves, safety glasses, and clothing are worn
• Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Assist in building scaffolding and temporary structures
• Safely operate a variety of tools including pressure washers, jackhammers, drills, saws, grinders, and blowtorches
• Prepare new construction sites by digging, moving dirt, or compacting space
• Provide assistance to contractors (i.e. craft workers, electricians, painters) as needed
• Clear debris and hazardous materials from worksite
• Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly

Job Type: Fulltime, local and camp work, 12 hr days with overtime

Job Types: Full-time, Seasonal

Salary: $19.00-$33.00 per hour

Schedule:

• 12 hour shift

• Overtime pay
