- Full-time/Part-Time/Contract Clinical Counsellor Therapist / Psychotherapist for our Trafalgar Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program
We are seeking an experienced Clinical Therapist with a passion for helping others, to join our team. This position supports our clients and clinical team by being an active participant of the team and facilitating individual and group therapy sessions. This individual must reside in British Columbia and:
- has a strong internet connection to be able to facilitate online psychotherapy
- has experience conducting short-term individual psychotherapy
- has experience facilitating group therapy sessions
- willing to provide some evening sessions to clients
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health or other related health field;
- minimum of 2 years of experience working as a RCC
- posses an understanding and ability to utilize CBT & DBT in their treatment of clients;
- preferably specialization in a specific population (e.g. V.A., VS/DV, Borderline, Concurrent Mental Health and Addictions);
- preferable specialization in trauma-focused treatment modalities (e.g., EMDR, Psychodynamics, CPT);
- can operate from a trauma-focused lens;
- carry professional liability insurance; be able to work well under pressure and perform well in crisis situations. As this role is to support our Virtual Outpatient program the hours will vary and may include evening sessions with clients. The prospective therapist will be providing virtual psychotherapy.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Report to the Clinical Director and senior staff members, work with an outpatient multidisciplinary services team;
- The selected candidate will be available 5 days per week and, sometimes, evenings, to conduct individual and group psychotherapy sessions via a secure virtual platform. Group programming runs from 10:30am to 2:30am with an expectation that individual therapy sessions will be conducted outside of those times.
- Part-time offerings also available;
- Utilize a client-centered approach and ensure well-coordinated care;
- Create and maintain progress notes, reports and any other written material required, in a timely manner;
- Ensure proper clinical interventions are implemented;
- Participate in weekly clinical team meetings;
- Maintain the high standards of practice required by Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centres;
- Ensure all aspects of confidentiality and data protection relating to both Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centres and individuals are maintained at all times;
- Participate in individual performance reviews and respond to agreed upon objectives;
- Attend clinical, case management and managerial supervision as required;
- Attend and be an active participant in team meetings, team training and other internal team meetings, etc.;
- Refer all press/media inquiries to Senior Management
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling, Mental Health or other related health field;
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience working as a Clinical Counsellor, Psychotherapist /MSW / Clinical Therapist;
- The selected candidate shall be able to utilize a variety of evidenced based treatment modalities (such as CBT, DBT, etc.) in their treatment of clients; specialized certifications such as CSAT or EMDR will be an asset.
- Preferably specialization in a specific population (e.g. V.A., VS/DV, Borderline, Concurrent Mental Health and Addictions;
- Can operate from a trauma-focused lens;
- Carry professional liability insurance;
- Be a member in good standing with a college or professional association (BCACC / CCPA/ RCC or other)
- Able to work independently as a team and provide detailed and accurate daily reports;
- Maintain knowledge, skills, and abilities by keeping up to date regarding professional standards through reviewing current literature, attending workshops/seminars and networking with colleagues.
- Experience in addictions considered a strong asset
