BASIC PURPOSE
Assists the superintendent proactively with technical and QA/QC support, to ensure the project meets all the requirements of the drawings, specifications and applicable codes.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/COMPETENCIES
- Ensure adherence to FWS Quality Management Procedures.
- Prepare non-conformance reports and participate in the corrective action program when required.
- Perform on and offsite inspections as per the project inspection test plans, and ensure QC pre-commissioning checklists are completed.
- Assist with coordinating 3rd party testing & inspection, as required by the inspection test plans.
- Maintain records for turn over package including but not limited to
- P&ID drawings
- Weld map & NDE/NDT records
- MTRs for materials and consumables
- Assist in maintaining current site drawings and specifications, including redline/as-built markups.
- Receive and inspect supplier deliveries, ensuring traceability of delivered products.
- Perform minor quantity surveys and track percentage of work complete.
- Liaison with FWS and third-party designers on technical issues.
- Assist Superintendent in maintaining the integrity of the site punch list.
- Participate in the six week look ahead & weekly work planning sessions.
- Be a critical eye. Spot deficiencies and escalate until successful resolution.
- Performs other duties as directed by the Superintendent.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pressure piping construction quality assurance experience, in a CM environment.
- Maintain a working knowledge of:
- Provincial guidelines / regulations / authorities having jurisdiction.
- ASME B31.3 / B31.1
- ASME BPVC
- CSA B51
- NDE/NDT methods
- Previous piping construction experience is required including experience in
- conducting/witnessing hydrotests
- managing/coordinating 3rd party NDE & PWHT contractors
- torque specs and recording bolt ups
- interpreting/understanding WPS and WPDS.
- CWB Welding Supervisor or CWB Level 1 or Level 2 Welding Inspector.
- Diploma in Engineering technology, or relevant qualifications and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks while working within a team environment.
- Ability to deal effectively with all levels of staff, clients, and suppliers.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to handle criticism and diffuse confrontational situations.
- Proficient with computer programs from Microsoft and Autodesk.
- The following would be an asset but are not mandatory:
- Construction experience in other disciplines such as civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical.
- Working knowledge of other construction codes such as W59 or CSA A23.1
OTHER INFORMATION
- Position will involve considerable extended time away from home and is located in a construction site office.
- May be involved in multiple projects at a time.
- This is rotation work 3wks on, 1wk off.
- Mileage and LOA will apply, if applicable.
- Night shift work on a construction site required very occasionally.
- Must be fit for work, in good health, may be required to pass drug and alcohol screening.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to handle packages / materials up to 50lb. weight, unassisted.
