About Us
Financial Services Division
This division supports the achievement of ministry outcomes, and the continued delivery of corporate services to clients and stakeholders. The Assistant Deputy Minister of Financial Services and Senior Financial Officer role is shared with Alberta Forestry Parks and Tourism.
Facilities & Fleet Services Unit
Staff manage core ministry services for departmental divisions including program accommodations, space change requirements and renovations, lease agreements, fleet procurement and maintenance, driver safety training, ministry parking requirements, and capital improvements.
Staff work daily with cross ministry staff in Alberta Infrastructure, Service Alberta Red Tape Reduction and Technology and Innovation.
Emergency Management Services Unit
Emergency Management Services includes Prevention and Mitigation, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery. Emergency Management staff play a vital role in supporting program areas in their business continuity response to an emergency.
Role
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Fleet Lead to join our Facilities, Fleet, and Emergency Management team.
As the Fleet Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing the department's fleet operations, ensuring that divisional requirements are met for program operations, and providing advisory support to program staff involved in fleet operations. You will also be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a driver safety program and engaging with multiple stakeholders to ensure that fleet operations are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
Primary responsibilities would include:
- Supervising and leading department fleet coordinators: You will be responsible for overseeing the work of the department fleet coordinators and providing leadership to ensure the divisional requirements are met for program operations. This involves ensuring that fleet procurement and preventative maintenance program requirements are met, and that driver safety programs are developed and delivered.
- Providing advisory support: You will be responsible for providing advisory support to program staff involved in fleet operations, emergency response fleet, and Financial Services for all fleet related enquiries. This will involve responding to queries, providing guidance, and ensuring that fleet operations are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and policies.
- Fleet procurement and preventative maintenance: You will be responsible for overseeing the fleet procurement and preventative maintenance program requirements for department fleet operations. This will involve working directly with divisional fleet coordinators to ensure that divisional requirements are met for program operations.
- Driver safety program: You will oversee the delivery of a driver safety program, including the development and delivery of driver training requirements, policies, and manuals. This will involve working closely with stakeholders, such as department managers and their teams, Service Alberta Red Tape Reduction (Fleet Management and Fleet Safety) teams, Alberta Transportation and Alberta Infrastructure.
- Stakeholder engagement: You will work with multiple stakeholders, including department managers and their teams, Service Alberta Red Tape Reduction (Fleet Management and Fleet Safety) teams, Alberta Transportation and Alberta Infrastructure. This will involve developing and maintaining relationships with these stakeholders, collaborating with them to ensure that fleet operations are conducted in compliance with relevant regulations and policies, and representing the organization in external forums.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, and four (4) years of directly related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Additional Requirements:
- Class 5 driver’s license and supervisory experience.
- Knowledge and experience with:
- application of the Travel Safety Act (regarding commercial vehicles)
- the National Safety Code (NSC)
- any other applicable legislation
- safety standards impacting fleet vehicles and fleet drivers.
Preference will be given to those with:
Working in complex environments or units involved with managing large fleet inventories.
Assets:
- Project management knowledge and experience are considered
- PROSCI, change management and project management certification and/ experience.
- Completion of ICS 100
- First Aid certification or experience
- Experience with system applications such as ARI, DMIS, FOCUS, OSSI as well as electronic logging devices, will be considered a strong asset.

Salary
$2,716.64 to $3,550.90 bi-weekly. ($70,904 - $92,678 / year)

Monday to Friday (08:15 am-16:30 pm)
Evening and weekend work is sometimes required
