Steelcon Inc. is growing, and we are looking to augment our team with a talented Design Build Engineer.

Reporting to the PMO Manager and working alongside the Chief Estimator, the Design Build Engineer will be responsible for preparing preliminary designs for Design build projects to be utilized during the estimating process.

As a Design Build Engineer/*Estimator, you will contribute to our team by*:
· Preparing and completing preliminary designs, inclusive of designing columns, beams, OWSJ’s and all main standard structural elements to assist in the preparation of a design build tender submission

· Preparing detailed scope lists of all completed design elements along with assumptions for secondary components that will be required to complete the remainder of the design to be considered in Steelcon’s bid

· Evaluating projects and prepare various value engineering saving options that could provide cost savings to both Steelcon and the customer

· Designing with Steelcon’s SIN Beam product and incorporate this element into Steelcon’s design build proposals

· Working alongside with Chief estimator to Complete final cost estimate, adding all labor, equipment, material data, pricing documentation, overhead, and profit margins to produce a final tender submission

· Working alongside the chief Estimator to Completing and submitting tender forms and documents based on the requirements of instruction to bidders for specific tenders

· Developing and maintaining strong customer focused relationships with all stakeholders

· Responsible for communication with the Project Manager and Engineer after project award and help coordinate the completion for the design

· Other duties as required.
What you will bring to this role:
Essential:

· Degree in related discipline

· Experience in engineering design

Nice to have:

· P. Eng would be an asset

· Construction cost estimating experience

· General construction knowledge - understands specifications, materials, and methods and procedures gained through site visits or on-site experience

· Strong knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity takeoff procedures, trade contractor procurement, pricing, and bid- closing procedures

· Resourceful and self-motivated with strong organizational skills and ability to multitask

· Advanced verbal and written communication skills as an influencer with key stakeholders

· Advanced skills using Microsoft Office Suite and operations systems: scheduling and estimating software

· Able to read construction drawings

· Exposure to SAP, RAM and Tekla
