Youth Engagement Worker (Summer Position)
Position Description:
The Shilo Military Family Resource Centre offers programming for children and youth in kindergarten to grade 12 who meet our mandate. These programs deliver content in the following areas: educational, social/emotional and life skills preparation. Under the supervision of the Youth
Program Coordinator and/or the Youth Program Facilitator, the Youth Engagement Worker will assist in the planning and delivery of programs both on and off-site.
Requirements:
- Age 16 to 29 years old.
- Experience working with children and youth in both structured and unstructured environments.
- Must demonstrate competence in the following areas: understanding and following directions, interpersonal skills and problem solving.
- Experience working independently as well as part of a team.
- First Aid/CPR, Clear criminal record check and child abuse registry check.
Responsibilities include:
- Plan and implement programming for youth
- The health and safety of youth
- Engaging in play
- Spontaneous activities
- Communication with parents, supervisor(s) and other staff
- Cleaning/daily duties
Terms of reference:
- Start Date: June 19th (casual hours until June 30th), Full time hours July 1st – September 1st
- Shifts fall on days, evenings and weekends
- Salary: $15.00/hr
- Mileage compensation available if commuting more than 16km
