What you will get to do
*
- Layout, position, align and fit components into welding fixture as instructed
- Set-up gas-shield, MIG-weld and weld parts to job specifications
- Read, interpret and understand blueprints and welding symbols to complete job assignments
- Use hand tools, clamps and grinders to perform job tasks
- Complete basic maintenance on welding equipment
- Adhere to all safety, health and environmental procedures, policies and practices
- Any other duties that fall within the employee's capabilities
- Contribute ideas to increase/improve safety, quality and productivity
Who you are
*
- At least a level C Welder or higher ticket or equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in heavy duty machining/manufacturing environment
- OFA Level 2 is an asset
- OHC certification and forklift ticket are preferred
- Able to read a tape measure and blueprints
- Demonstrated skill level of wire feed (MIG) welding
- Ability to read and understand work order routings and instructions
- Can layout parts using weld fixtures
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills
- Adept at working well with minimum supervisions
- Strong attendance track record and ability to get along well with others
Physical demands
*
- The role requires being able to sit, stand, walk, lift and carry items ranging in weight up to 50 lbs
- Frequent/repetitive actions, pushing, pulling, benching, reaching, gripping, crawling, kneeling, bending, twisting, turning and handling of machine equipment and parts
- There may be long periods of standing, walking or sitting due to the nature of the role
- Basic use of tools and equipment will be required every day
Work environment
*
- Daily exposure to typical manufacturing areas may be required and will require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, mandatory hearing protection and welding helmet/PAPR
- Working in varying levels of heat and cold
- Team member must be able to navigate the manufacturing shop floor safely including walking and standing for up to four hours at a time and working at different elevations
