Vineyard Manager Job at Kitsch Wines
Kitsch Wines is Kelowna, BC winery focused on world class wine and experiences without the pretenses.
Kitsch is looking to welcome a skilled and enthusiastic Vineyard Foreman or Vineyard Manager to our team.
This role oversees two neighbouring vineyards totalling 21 acres, growing Pinot Noir, Riesling, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris. Under management are 3-4 vineyard labourers along with the maintenance, operation and care of all the vineyard equipment and supplies.
Specific responsibilities include
· Planning, leading and executing vineyard operations throughout the year (pruning, tying, tucking, spraying, mowing, thinning, hedging, irrigation and harvest)
· Recruiting, hiring, training, quality control, compensation analysis and termination of vineyard labourers and harvesters. This includes assistance with and adherence to foreign worker requirements.
· Planning for and optimizing fruit yields
· Vineyard equipment maintenance and operation
· Purchasing and managing supplies
· Holistic/sustainable practices wherever possible
· Managing the yearly budget and calendar and helping to set them
· Lead discussions on the purchase of new vineyard supplies and vines
· Irrigation planning, management and recording
· Working with and executing take aways from viticulturist consultants
· Responsible for vineyard health and safety program
· Work in the cellar as needed and when not conflicting with vineyard operations

Job requirements:
- Experience with tractor and implement operations and maintenance
- Spray experience and/or certification
- Driver's license
- Forklift experience and/or certification
- Viticulture diploma or years of experience
- Experience managing a team
