Required to see animals in clinic, travel between clinics to provide services and travel to producers / farms to attend to large animals
Education
Degree in medicine, dentistry, veterinary medicine or optometry
Experience
3 years to less than 5 years
Credentials (certificates, licences, memberships, courses, etc.)
Licensure by provincial or territorial authorities; Canadian Veterinary Medical Association Certification

Tasks
Diagnose diseases or abnormal conditions in individual animals, herds and flocks through physical examinations or laboratory tests, Hire and train staff, Treat sick or injured animals by prescribing medication, setting bones, dressing wounds or performing surgery, Administer budget, Vaccinate animals to prevent and treat diseases, Advise clients on feeding, housing, behaviour, breeding, hygiene and general care of animals, Conduct veterinary research related to areas such as animal nutrition, health care products development and disease prevention and control, Enforce government regulations in disease control and food production including animal or animal-based food inspection, Perform routine, emergency and post-mortem examinations, Provide a range of veterinary services including obstetrics, dentistry and euthanasia, Responsible for overall operation of animal hospital, clinic or mobile service to farms, Supervise animal health technologists and animal care workers
