Job Description:

Applications Operations Services & Quality Engineering (AOSQE) is looking for a Testing Consultant with data (including SQL, some ETL), API and automation testing skills to join the Data Testing Chapter. The successful candidate acts as the Quality Advocate and is responsible to ensure the delivery of quality solutions to our clients through testing.

What you will do

• Deliver product features, via manual and automated data test planning and execution, as part of a cross-functional agile team
• Work with the team to design and implement effective QE testing strategies
• Champion and advocate automation and quality within the Agile team
• Log and track detailed product defects
• Track QE progress and provide analysis & metrics to stakeholders
• Provide timely and effective communication to management, relating to quality, resource and project issues & concerns
• Support an automation-first approach to testing
• Create and maintain repeatable test artefacts, including:
  • Regression models and automation scripts
  • Training documentation
• Look for opportunities for continuous improvement
• Collaborate closely with scrum master, product owner, software engineers, business analysts. and non-functional testing teams (i.e. vulnerability and performance testing)

What you need to succeed:

• Related university degree or college diploma, or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years of progressive experience in software QA
• Intermediate or better experience with data testing (SQL/relational databases, NoSQL)
• Knowledge of ETL testing, big data (structured and unstructured data)
• Experience working in an agile methodology
• Understanding of DevOps concepts and tools (BitBucket, CDD, Jenkins)
• Familiarity with test automation tools and concepts

Preferred skills

• Experience with Kafka event testing (raw topics to domain topics)
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and planning skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with others in a team environment in a multi-site organization
• Strong focus on the customer
• Experience with API testing (REST/JSON)
• Experience with qTest, JIRA
• Familiarity with Python
• Knowledge of Sagemaker, Redshift and/or Glue technologies
• Git, Scrum, Jira, or other agile tools
• Lead role on medium to large-sized projects
• Understanding of QE procedures, policies and principles
• Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Approach tasks with an innovative mindset, positive outlook

The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors. In addition to Base Pay, eligible Sun Life employees participate in various incentive plans, payment under which is discretionary and subject to individual and company performance.
