We require an experienced Surveyor for our client, a mining firm with a growing operation located on Baffin Island in Nunavut. This is an Contract requirement, 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off. While this starts on contract, there is a possibility this role will roll into permanent role, however, we would prefer someone who is not presently working. Permanent spot. We require someone for deployment in January. We require someone with previous surveying experience.

Main Accountabilities

• Participation in daily toolbox/safety meetings
• Open Pit Mining & Civil Earth Works
• Shift work (21 days on, 21 days off Days/Nights)
• Use of Trimble GPS & Total station systems to collect survey information
• Read and interpret site design plans for field layout
• Staking / As-built of open pit design.
• Staking / As-built of concrete pre-cast, piping corridors / ditches, electrical conduit and ditches.Layout/As-build concrete forms and anchor bolt. Staking/Layout of building pads / slopes and structural backfill requirements.
• Record notes of field data daily.
• Communicate with other surveyors and foreman on task details.
• Familiar with machine control upload/functionality
• Work in survey Party Chief role
• Environmental/Physical Demands:
• Work in extreme low temperatures down to minus 40 Celsius.
• Physically able to use all standard hand tools and lifting up to 25 kg.
• Operation of equipment for 12 hour long daily shifts for a two week period.

Main Qualifications

• Diploma in Mining Engineering Technology or Geography or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years experience at an operating open pit mine.
• Proficient in MS office suite of programs.
• Survey knowledge and experience would be an asset.
• Analytical thinking and interpretation of information.
• Interested candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
• Arctic experience would be beneficial.
• Experience working in remote mining camps.
• Team player and positive attitude.
