This position offer an exciting and challenging opportunity to play an integral part in the delivery of services in the East Fraser Region. Working in collaboration with diverse community stakeholders and in partnership with Indigenous communities and agencies you will be part of a continuum of culturally appropriate child and youth mental health services. Under the direction of the Indigenous CYMH Team Leader, the Community Outreach Worker will work as a member of a multi-disciplinary Community Mental Health Team and is responsible for providing mental health support and education services; assisting in coordination of risk reducing and community capacity building initiatives that assist communities in identifying and responding to CYMH issues; building relationships and facilitating connections between various mental health service providers and other community based programs and services to ensure vulnerable children and youth are identified and linked with appropriate services.
Job Requirements:
- BSW, BA (Psychology), Bachelor's Degree in Child & Youth Care or comparable graduate degree at a Bachelor's level.
- Experience working in child and youth mental health services.
- Experience working with Indigenous families and communities.
Preference may be given to applicants with the following:
- One (1) year post degree experience in the provision of mental health services to children, youth and their families.
- Indigenous applicants and individuals with demonstrated links to the Indigenous community.
- Individuals with extensive, successful experience working with First Nations’ communities
- Applicants who have Indigenous heritage (First Nations, Metis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.
