Job Summary
The Social Assistance Worker B (Financial Assessment Officer) completes financial assessments/reassessments, using the Income Test, for clients accessing the Home Support Program (Disabilities or Seniors), Personal Care Home Program and other financial services. This position is responsible for completing funding agreements, where applicable; completing financial audits of Personal Care Homes to ensure compliance to Provincial Standards; interpreting policy and providing on-going evaluation of client financial needs; consulting with staff within the Community Support Program, Personal Care Home Program, Newfoundland and Labrador Prescription Drug Program, and Advanced Education Skills and Labour; and conducting comprehensive reviews of financial services in accordance with provincial standards, Labour Standards and Service Canada guidelines. The Financial Assessment Officer also provides guidance and training, as required; and liaises with Revenue Canada, Labour Standards, agencies and clients.

Job Qualifications
Graduation from High School or equivalent.
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary institution with a Bachelor's Degree in Business/Commerce with major coursework in accounting or a three-year Diploma in Business Management with a focus in accounting is required.
Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to deal effectively with clients and others in a demanding environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of Community Services and accounting principles and practice.
Demonstrated strong analytical and organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
Experience in the use of spreadsheet software is required.
Use of a private vehicle is a condition of employment.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
