EXCELLENT OPPORTUNITY FOR A SHIPPER & RECEIVER WITH ONE OR MORE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE IN A PRODUCTION/WAREHOUSE ENVIRONMENT TO JOIN A GROWING MANUFACTURING COMPANY.

The Shipper and Receiver will report directly to the Production Manager and is responsible for the execution of the company’s shipping and receiving activities with a goal of maintaining an effective and efficient operation while always meeting or exceeding customer expectations. He/she will be focused on overseeing and leading the day-to-day; hands-on; shipping and receiving and logistical operations.
LOCATION:
Niagara Region - St. Catharines area.
Easy access to and from the Niagara Region and Hamilton area.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Interact with customers, suppliers and staff to schedule shipments, ensure all shipping/receiving is running smoothly and resolve any related issues or complaints.
Reject damaged or non-conforming items, record shortages, and communicate with the Quality Manager and suppliers to rectify deficiencies.
Maintain quality control of goods by inspecting all outgoing shipments for “correctness”.
Transfer received goods to appropriate storage/laydown area.
Oversee warehouse workers (dotted line) to ensure goods are packed, labeled and stored properly, in the correct areas.
Negotiate shipping fees with suppliers/couriers.
Schedule and prepare delivery loads and routes.
Assemble skids, containers and crates and attach labels and/or documentation to the respective packed goods.
Organize, clean and maintain shipping/receiving and storage areas to ensure product, supplies, equipment and tools are in their designated locations.
Inspect and maintaining cleanliness of tow motors.
Assist in other areas/departments as required,
Follow all safety rules and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment.
REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma.
One or more years of related experience.
An ideal candidate will show a strong attention to detail, be reliable and self motivated, and have shipping and receiving and logistics experience in a production/warehouse setting.
Adopt to training on company database and internal policies and procedures.
A valid driver’s license.
A valid certificate for operating a forklift.
Adaptable to on-going training/development needed to keep current in this position.
Continuous learning of new shipment processes, courier information, etc.
Continuous learning of required communication protocol between transportation companies and the production floor.
Continuous learning of new methods of fulfilling paperwork and fulfilling required documents and needs of transportation companies.
Continuous communication with shipment parties.
Forklift competency.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Computer literacy skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize.
Proactive and asks questions as necessary.
A courteous helpful attitude.
Works well with others.
Detail oriented and self-motivated.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Scheduled work week: Monday to Friday (Day shift).
Overtime as needed.
Number of hours per week: 40 + Overtime. Number of hours per day: 8 + Overtime.
Working in facility with material handling equipment, automated lines, and, in specific areas, high temperature’s (convection ovens)
Must have the physical strength and stamina to repeatedly move, bend, lift, get on/off forklift, walk and stand for 8 hours / day
Able to lift 50 lbs
Ability to work in excess of 8 hours/day when required in a fast paced environment.
Ability to use Fork Lift, shrink wrapper, weight scales, small tools, computer
