The ideal Product Manager is humble, hungry and smart!
You will be responsible for delivering the annual budgeted revenue and gross profit for the assigned product categories. This is achieved by thoroughly assessing the market, identifying the target audience, articulating a singular objective with focused strategies and related tactics in-field.
You will have the support of a peer group of brand marketers, along with robust selling and supply chain teams, to help you achieve success on the job!
You will do:
- Own & drive your product categories, executing all stages of the product life cycle. Articulate a singular business objective for each category and craft strategies that deliver the key business objectives.
- Articulate the merchandised portfolio – including distribution, pricing, merchandising, and sales promotion tactics – that will maximize inventory turns at retail, while winning new business during product line review with major accounts.
- Lead creation of product marketing collateral to improve visibility of product category.
- Conduct market assessments, including analyzing consumer, customer, competitors, and economic variables.
- Play the lead role in the intercompany idea generation, multi-generational product development and design of new products. Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to bring products to market.
- Identify and commercialize new products based on customer and consumer insights.
- Manage the financial health of the categories and their individual products, including budgeting, pricing and contribution margins.
You will have:
- A University Degree in Business and/or Marketing
- 5 to 10 years marketing (or marketing/sales combination) experience at the manager level in a retail focused business, of which 2 to 3 years in a similar Product Management role
- Lead and/or participated in market assessments and strategy development
- Have had demonstrated success executing at retail
- Certification and/or experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Supported Sales team during line reviews and at key customer meetings
- Lead and/or participated in a significant product commercializing effort
- Travel may be required throughout Canada, the United States up to 30% of the time, including working in China 1-2 times a year.
