Senior Financial Analyst (Firm-Wide Finance Department)
Job Summary
We are currently looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) to join the Firm-Wide Finance Department. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic, be collaborative, professional, adaptable, positive and interested in their work.
Reporting to the Manager, Accounting, the SFA is accountable for management reporting, financial analysis, and a variety of financial accounting activities. The SFA will also be involved in budgeting, planning and forecasting.
Hours of work may vary, dependent on business needs (within the general range of standard business hours). Occasional pre-authorized overtime may be required to meet business needs.
A part of the Firm-wide Finance team, this role can be located in any of the Canadian cities that Fasken has offices (Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Vancouver, Surrey). Remote work arrangements are available with occasional requirements as per business needs for onsite office collaboration and support. The successful candidate must live in or around their regional office and be able to commute to the office as often as required. While primarily remote, there may be occasional needs to attend the regional office.

Primary Responsibilities
- Preparing and posting monthly, quarterly, and annual accruals
- Verifying cost allocations according to Firm procedures
- Providing ongoing support to the leadership teams of administrative support departments
- Supporting preparation of five year plans, operating budgets and forecasts
- Analyzing and interpreting monthly budget variances and communicating those variances to management
- Reconciling sub-ledger to general ledger account balances
- Performing account analysis and posting adjustments/reclassifications as needed
- Maintaining and reconciling schedules such as prepaid, fixed assets, accrued liabilities, and intercompany
- Providing information to internal clients on a regular and ad-hoc basis
- Assisting with special projects
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Knowledge and Experience
- A CPA designation or starting/working towards a CPA designation is preferred
- A minimum two (2) years’ experience in accounting and financial analysis at a senior accounting level (five (5) – seven (7) years total experience)
- Sound understanding of GAAP/ASPE
- Experience analyzing financial data and preparing financial reports, statements and projections
- Proficiency with computer software programs including MS Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, and Outlook) and Power BI
- Experience in 3E or Elite Enterprise is considered an asset
