JOB POSTING – SENIOR ACCOUNTING CLERK
As a key member of the Office, you will be responsible for the performance of a variety of duties from backroom calculations to front desk customer service. Responsibilities will include auditing and posting the day's receipts, filing, and tallying deposits, preparing floats, coding, totaling, batching, entering, verifying and reconciling transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements. Other responsibilities will include the compilation of budget data and documents based on estimated revenues, expenses and previous budgets, and the performance of related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.

Job Duties

  • Supports the Office and organization with day-to-day accounting duties including:
  • Check and review documents, data, reports to make sure that their final figures are correct, noting errors and the causes of any miscalculations.
  • Train, supervise junior accounting staff and manage day-to-day workflow for Tykolis Group of Companies.
  • Check other employees work to make sure that their final figures are correct, noting errors and causes of any miscalculations.
  • Utilizes computer systems to run databases, pay bills and order supplies.
  • Calculates, prepares, and issues documents related to accounts such as bills, invoices, inventory reports, account statements and other financial statements.
  • Audit, code, total, batch, enter, verify, and reconcile transactions such as accounts payable and receivable, payroll, purchase orders, cash cheques, invoices, cheque requisitions, and bank statements.
  • Audits and reconcile cash floats.
  • Audit, reconciliation of daily sales, deposits, correct errors as required.
  • Audit and balance ATM machines, SGG and SN.
  • Prepares period or cost statements or reports.
  • Provide monthly financial statements by the 25thof the following month.
  • Preparation of WSIB, HST, EHT and government source deductions.
  • Final audit of biweekly payroll for Tykolis Group of Companies.
  • Manage the process of month end balances and reporting for:
  • Intercompany accounts
  • Visa reconciliations
  • Shareholders accounts
  • Bank reconciliations
  • Complete annual government reconciliations of EHT, WSIB and corporate taxes.
  • Reconcile funding for various programs including COJG and Canada Summer Jobs.
  • Compiles budget data and documents based on estimated revenues and expenses and previous budgets.
  • Calculates costs of materials, overhead and other expenses based on estimates, quotations, and price lists.
  • Performs related clerical duties, such as word processing, maintaining filing and record systems, faxing and photocopying.
  • Stay current with all regulations, practices, tax laws, reporting requirements and industry trends.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled or have completed post secondary Accounting/Office Administration and related courses
  • Minimum 3 plus years working experience in accounting A/R and A/P required.
  • Knowledge of Sage Accounting software an asset
  • Knowledge of accepted accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Computer literate, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel and e-mail
  • Ability to adapt to and learn new software.
  • Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.
  • Good organizational, time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures.
  • Attention to detail in all areas of work.
  • High level of personal integrity.
