For this role, you will be in charge of synthesis, CDC and LINT checks, and other flows that determine the correctness and synthesizability of our RTL. You will also update technology and tool versions and debug errors that occur during the updates. If you are interested in learning about RTL design and how RTL code is validated as synthesizable, then this is the perfect opportunity for you. You will maintain this process and communicate with a large team of designers when any RTL is found to be violating timing or design constraints.

We are hiring for multiple co-op/intern positions that vary between on-site and hybrid – students will be required to work at the Markham office on a schedule based on the needs of the hiring team. COVID-19 protocols are being strictly followed.
Program Term
- This role is an 8-month position
- September 11, 2023 to April 26, 2024
- Must be returning to school following the internship
The Role
The Display IP team comprises of multiple smaller teams on a global scale working together to develop cutting edge display technologies. Some of the features we’ve worked on include Eyefinity and FreeSync. However, the Display IP contains much more, including all data manipulations after reading from the graphics memory right up to displaying on everything from VGA to Displayport to wireless displays, ensuring our products are compatible with the latest graphic technologies. You will work with a large team consisting of over 70 members here in Markham. What you’ll be doing
- Synthesis our Display IP through our internal AMD tools
- Run CDC and Lint, reporting design violations and working with senior designers to resolve them
- Library and tech/tools set up and updates for multiple projects
- Providing weekly status updates and reviews
- Scripting, automating and improving flows for RTL verification
What you’ll learn
- The complete ASIC design cycle, from concept through implementation and verification to tapeout
- Industry leading Display technologies which utilize a wide spectrum of industry accepted design and verification techniques
- Practical, real life application of key Engineering principles which include research, coding and debug
- How to efficiently communicate with a large team of designers, verification engineers and managers.
Requirements
General Qualifications
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Data Science, or a related field/discipline
- Proven interpersonal skills, technical excellence and teamwork
- Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
- A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development
- Must be participating in a registered co-op program
Technical Qualifications
- Understanding of Hardware Languages: Verilog and SystemVerilog
- At least some Scripting Languages such as: Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash, TCL.
- Familiar with Unix system (Experience with large file systems and revision control is an asset)
- Optional: SQL, HTML, CSS, JavaScript
- Knowledge of Digital Electronics is helpful for understanding CDC and synchronizers
- Strong time management skills to organize and complete tasks in a fast-paced environment.
