About Us:
The North Shore Health Network provides rural healthcare for communities along the north shore of Lake Huron – including services in Blind River, Thessalon and Richards Landing. The North Shore Health Network sites have been serving their communities faithfully for many years providing emergency, acute, complex continuing care, long-term care and community support services.
The Role:
The Recreation and Rehabilitation Assistant is responsible for planning, organizing and evaluating recreation and leisure services and for carrying out rehabilitation therapy and individualized plans of care for residents of the Long Term Care unit.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university; or are enrolled in a community college or university in a diploma or degree program in such a field Previous and current related experience in a long-term care setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of the RAI program and relevance of the objectives.
- Current CPR.
- Computer skills.
- Demonstrated leadership, planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to assess, develop and implement relevant programs to meet the needs of residents.
- Clear criminal record.
- Bilingual – English & French considered a strong asset.
Responsibilities:
- Develops, organizes, and evaluates recreation/leisure and spiritual care programs for Long Term Care residents.
- Carries out and provides feedback on the rehabilitation plan of care set by the physiotherapist for each resident.
- Develops a volunteer program to assist with recreation/leisure programs.
- Acts as a resource as required to assist the Resident’s Council.
- Contributes to the efficient management and quality of the unit environment.
- Is cognizant and compliant with the Health Centre policies and procedures.
- Is knowledgeable about the quality indicators tracked to measure resident care outcomes and work life outcomes.
- Is involved in the decision making processes of the unit/ department as required.
- Acts as a good and knowledgeable role model or mentor to colleagues and students.
- Maintains own continuing education to enhance knowledge and growth. Other duties as assigned.
Wages:
$23.168 (MIN) to $25.014 (MAX)
