Job Description

Acuren is seeking five (5) Radiography Technicians (RT2) for permanent full-time work across Alberta. These roles involve utilizing radiography technology to detect discontinuities (defects) on objects under inspection.

The start date for these roles is immediate. Work locations include industrial sites across Alberta and will require travel.

Successful candidates will work an average of 30 to 40 hours per week depending on specific site shift schedules. Terms and conditions, including payment for overtime and other premiums, are governed by the Quality Control Council of Canada (QCCC) Collective Agreement.

Successful candidates will have a Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) Certified Exposure Device Operator (CEDO) certification or will be required to participate in the CEDO 40-hour Radiation Safety course and obtain 320 field hours to achieve certification within 3 months of hire. In addition, candidates without Canadian credentials will be prepared to challenge the Canadian General Standards Board (CGSB) examinations within 3 months of hire.

The hourly wage will range from a base rate of $35.01/hour to $45.88/ hour CDN, depending on CGSB qualifications held. In addition to wages, there is a 10% vacation/holiday pay, and $5.50/hour pension contribution. Comprehensive health benefits are provided following 500 hours of work in accordance with the QCCC collective agreement.

Temporary health insurance will be provided, if required, until the 500 hours are worked and/or a provincial health card is obtained.

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Successful applicants will possess ISO-9712 certification in CGSB, PCN, or ASNT or equivalent accredited certification body in Radiography Level 2 or higher;
  • Minimum five years of experience performing radiography;
  • Minimum of three years as a Level 2 Radiographer;
  • Must provide a current Criminal Records check to meet the Trustworthiness and Reliability assessment required by CNSC regulations;
  • Must possess a clean criminal record;
  • Valid driver's license and the flexibility to travel on the job;
  • Ability to comply with Acuren and/or client-required pandemic policies prior to employment and continued compliance with adaptive Acuren and/ or client pandemic policies.
  • Physical and psychological fitness, with the ability to successfully submit to drug and alcohol testing on a random schedule;

Additional Skills:

  • Proficiency in report writing
  • Thorough understanding of, and compliance with, safety and quality principles;
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment,
  • Additional CGSB or equivalent NDT certifications would be highly desirable.
