Purpose

This position involves maintaining quality assurance, HACCP related systems that require considerable technical and scientific knowledge in a dynamic and challenging food processing environment. This position will work primarily on the afternoon shift with support to the night shift as required. This position will report to and work closely with the Quality Management System leader and plays a supporting role to the other QA team members.

Responsibilities

· Review records and documentation and identify deficiencies. Ensure appropriate corrective actions have taken, implement preventative measures and evaluate effectiveness of the preventative measures

· Conduct QMS related training for both new and existing employees

· Foreign material reject management

· Use of root cause analysis tools when investigating deficiencies

· Assisting the QMS leader in the development of SOPs and the reassessment of the HACCP system

· Trending of QA data

· Complete annual CCP validations

· Assist with the maintenance SQA program

· Ownership of the quarterly allergen validation program

· Support on sanitation initiatives and SSOP development

· Perform food safety risk assessments and complete deviation reports, where required

· Effectively communicate and interact with different functional groups, including employees on the production floor and CFIA

· Perform changeover, supplementary pre-op and pre-operational inspections as required

· Maintain as attitude of continuous improvement during review processes

· QA duties such as.

o Monitoring and inspecting activities in QMS

o Raw material and finished product inspections

o Returned and damaged product inspections

o Review Certificate of Analysis

o Perform label review

· Provide back-up support to the satellite assembly production facility in Leduc Agri-Processing Centre

· Perform other related as required

Skill Requirements

· Robust understanding of GMPs, HACCP and QA based principles

· Knowledge of Safe Food for Canadians Act and Regulations

· Ability to perform food safety risk assessments diligently and thoroughly

· Ability to identify food safety and QA deficiencies and issues and complete corrective actions

· Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills

· Good organizational and time management skills

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal) are required

· A team player and capable to work independently in a diverse processing plant environment

· Strong computing skills in Excel and Microsoft Word

· Flexibility to support QA requirements on the night (10pm-6.30am) or day (6am-2.30pm)

Qualification Requirements

· Diploma of B.Sc. in Food Science, Microbiology, Chemistry, or related discipline

· Minimum 2 years of QA experience in a federally registered establishment

· Minimum 2 years of working experience with a GFSI program

· Previous experience related to sanitation would be an asset

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 16 months

Salary: $55,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
