The Job

We are digitizing the criminal justice sector so you will be working with Criminal Justice Digital Design (CJDD) colleagues in partnership with justice sector stakeholders.
The Ministry
The Ministry of the Solicitor General is responsible for the safety and security of communities across Ontario through effective policing, correctional services and emergency services programs. The ministry promotes policing excellence by communicating with and providing advice to the police community, as well as through training, developing professional standards and establishing new programs. The Ontario Provincial Police provides front-line policing services to more than 400 municipal and First Nations communities. The ministry is also responsible for maintaining effective and efficient correctional programs that create an environment where offenders are better able to return to the community and make positive contributions to society. Through the work of the Office of the Chief Coroner, Office of the Fire Marshal, Centre of Forensic Sciences and Emergency Management Ontario, the ministry seeks to minimize or eliminate hazards to people and property.
The Division
The Modernization Division (MOD) drives transformation within the ministry and the broader criminal justice sector through innovation, digital integration and client-focused services and solutions. MOD provides a suite of services to all ministry divisions, partner ministries and stakeholders to lead, plan and deliver on priority initiatives.

What can I expect to do in this role?
In this role, you will:- Coordinate and implement a variety of concurrent provincial projects for CJDD
- Facilitate the development of project proposals and work plans, including objectives, scope, project phases and scheduling, timelines, associated costs and resource requirements
- Perform operational and monitoring functions for large scale portfolio process requirements, development of instructions plans, and activities
- Develop the framework for the continuous improvement and optimization of internal business practices and services, and the identification of cost-saving alternative delivery mechanisms for operations
- Develop and apply decision support and prioritization tools, including evidence-based decision making, to guide allocation/program spending categorization and grouping

How do I qualify?
Project Management and Leadership Skills:
- You have knowledge of project management, administration and control methodologies, techniques, tools, current software, project life cycle methodologies, standards and policies to coordinate and support CJDD projects
- You have knowledge of quality assurance processes, policies, techniques, tools, best practices and standards
- You have leadership and administrative skills to plan, coordinate, schedule and direct the work of project members
Business Knowledge and Skills:
- You understand business analysis to participate in and/or lead projects for the planning of new operational processes
- You have knowledge of business directions to assist in the development of sound business solutions
- You have knowledge of government regulations and policies, standards, and plans to ensure that program operations and project development and implementation are consistent with corporate direction
- You are familiar with relevant industry trends, directions and standards to develop appropriate standards for systems.
- You have knowledge of government tendering policies and processes and contract management methods to negotiate contract agreements with external vendors and administer contracts
Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
- You have excellent written and oral communication techniques to produce documentation
- You can prepare and present proposals, communication documents, training materials, business cases, draft project plans, and status reports
- You have excellent negotiation, advisory and consultation skills to develop and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships
Computer Skills:
- You are proficient with computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, PowerPoint, project scheduling and internet to track and report on projects, to prepare documentation, and to perform scheduling
