What Is The Opportunity
Scarborough Transit Connect (STC) is awarded the design and works of the Scarborough Subway Extension project. The Scarborough Subway Extension will bring the TTC’s Line 2 subway service nearly eight kilometers farther into Scarborough. It will extend from Kennedy Station to Sheppard Avenue and McCowan Road, providing quick and seamless transit for those heading into and out of the downtown core and those travelling within Scarborough. The extension will replace Line 3 (the Scarborough RT), helping to reduce travel times and improve access to jobs, schools and other key destinations throughout the city.

STC is now looking for a qualified Procurement Specialist to join their team as a direct STC project hire at 100 Consilium Place, Scarborough, ON.

What You Will Do Here
  • Maintain high data integrity when inputting records in the company’s database systems.
  • Provide reporting and analysis on procurement activities, variances and impacts.
  • Successfully executes elements of the project procurement plan in accordance with approved corporate and or project policies, procedures, plans, strategy and budgets.
  • Prepare and oversee the preparation of all bid documents, bid tabulations and selection recommendations. This includes preparing the sourcing strategy, bid packages, supplier agreements and overseeing the development of the scope of work.
  • Work collaboratively with key project stakeholders to ensure requirements are captured in the total cost of ownership solution.
  • Relationship management with vendors and internal stakeholders on all procurement related matters.
  • Contract negotiations and preparation, including issuing approval of contract documents, subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Logistics coordination including expediting for critical site deliveries.
  • Drive an inclusive culture to promote equity, welcome different perspectives, and enable career progression by fostering a sense of belonging.

What You Will Bring to The Team
  • 5+ years’ experience within a procurement department.
  • Post-secondary education or work experience in a related field.
  • Technical depth of knowledge in the areas of construction related materials and services.
  • Knowledge of procurement principles, techniques, practices, and ethics.
  • Knowledge of fundamentals of contract law, negotiating business agreements, and laws of requesting tenders, proposals, and quotations.
  • Proven organizational skills and ability to work under pressure in order to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks within a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and be service oriented.
  • Ability to build positive working relationships with professionals within industry and internal clients.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to distill strategy into a clear, compelling and concise narrative.
  • Solid research skills and commitment to continually learn about new products.
  • Attention to detail, mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Understanding of ERP systems, knowledge of SAP planning system would be an asset.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and derive well supported linear and non-linear premises.
  • Results oriented with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and timelines.
  • Ability to manage and coordinate competing organizational needs.
  • Exceptional time management skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Highly conscientious and disciplined.
