Job Title: Physiotherapist (PT)

Work Site: Kootenay Family Place, home and day care visits

Status: Temporary, flexible schedule up to 35 hours/ week (maternity leave)

Start Date: Immediately

End Date: April 2024.

JOB SUMMARY:

Kootenay Family Place is a non-profit organization accredited by CARF and funded by the Ministry of Children and Family Development that provides free services to families in the Castlegar, Trail, and Rossland areas. The physical therapist is a sole-charge position that provides family-centered therapy for children aged 0-5 years old. The pediatric team includes occupational therapy, speech language pathology, infant development, and supported child development. Mentoring with our part-time physiotherapist is available. New grads welcome.

Summary of Duties:

• Collaborate with family and key people in a child’s life to assess the need for intervention and to establish a service plan based on those needs
• Evaluate child’s skills and progress on a regular basis using clinical judgement and reasoning as well as standardized tests as appropriate
• Support caregivers to provide caregiver-implemented interventions and provide services in a variety of delivery models (individual sessions, group therapy, parent training programs)
• Services are delivered at Kootenay Family Place, client homes, and in community settings (daycares, preschools, parks etc)
• Maintain client and agency documentation
• Participate in agency and interagency meetings and training
• Liaise with other service providers and professionals to coordinate services for families (kindergarten transition meetings, early intervention meetings etc)

Qualifications:

• Degree or Master’s in Physical Therapy
• Current membership with the College of Physical Therapists of BC
• Pediatric experience preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Drivers License and use of personal automobile
