Diversified Staffing, a leading staffing agency in Alberta, is looking for an experienced Payroll Specialist for our client in the South East of Calgary. Please read on further for information on the responsibilities and qualifications needed for this position.

Main Function:

The Payroll Specialist is directly responsible for performing all payroll related duties, including processing multi regional bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll submissions. This position is responsible for liaising with the Human Resources department, management and employees, and keeping informed of legislative changes affecting payroll. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and process multi-regional semi-monthly and bi-weekly payroll submissions ensuring accuracy and adherence to provincial and federal labour standards and documented policies
  • Preparation of special payroll runs as necessary (bonuses and terminations)
  • Responsible to ensure that the Time & Attendance module is working to meet the needs of the business and provide training and support to employees
  • Preparation and submission of payroll-related reporting (WCB, T4s, ROEs, and reconciliation of payroll remittances, benefits, vehicle allowances, etc.)
  • Responsible for year-end T4 preparations and reconciliation of taxable benefits
  • Proactively review reporting capabilities and make suggestions on reporting to facilitate manager decision making with respect to workforce planning and reporting
  • Identify and resolve payroll related discrepancies, with research and analysis and proper documentation, in a professional and timely basis
  • Prepare and enter payroll entries into SAP B1 and reconcile, on a monthly basis assigned related balance sheet accounts
  • Regular monthly review of payroll entries to budget to identify anomalies
  • Responsible to maintain corporate vehicle listing and ensure appropriate taxable benefits are calculated and adjusted in the payroll
  • Responsible to monitor annual vehicle registrations and send reminders to appropriate sales personnel to ensure up to date, out of province registrations and insurance are maintained

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant payroll experience
  • Working knowledge of ADP WorkforceNow (including Time & Attendance module)
  • Intermediate MS Excel skills
  • Experience completing Journal Vouchers on and ERP systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information

Education:

  • PCP or CPM preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Day shift

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Calgary, AB: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)
