Position Summary:

Reporting to the Talent & Culture Business Manager, the incumbent is responsible for supporting the transactional functions of the Talent & Culture department, including, but not limited to, records management, payroll and group benefit plans, on behalf of the employees of LaSalle College Vancouver.

The Payroll and Talent & Culture Technician also acts as a representative of the Talent & Culture function and ensures that his/her contribution is a value add to the achievement of the goals of his/her internal clients.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate Talent & Culture initiatives as they relate to: onboarding, payroll, benefits, new employee orientation, professional development, performance and offboarding
  • Maintain Dayforce by creating and updating employee records Run various reports, as required
  • Execute pay cycles including verifying and approving timesheets, resolving time card exceptions, performing various data entry functions, and ensuring compliance with internal and external controls within required deadlines for both unionized and non-unionized employees
  • Perform employee enrollment and file updates on the online portal for the Registered Retirement Savings Plan (RRSP)
  • Work with service providers including, but not limited to, Ceridian (Dayforce), AGA, and Desjardins to resolve issues and/or concerns
  • Serve as a resource and a main point of contact for questions related to the terms and conditions of employment, group benefit plans, and policies and procedures, etc.
  • Provide support at various points in the recruitment processes of the organization including initiating online Criminal Record Check requests, conducting reference checks, creating job requisitions in Dayforce and posting vacancies on various job boards nitiating onboarding or offboarding activities utilizing Dayforce, resolving system access issues, and creating new employee and group benefit files, etc.
  • Participate in the creation of instructor contracts
  • Issue Employment Verifications, Records of Employment (ROE’s) in conjunction with Dayforce Managed Services and other employment related documents
  • Provide references on behalf of the employees of LaSalle College Vancouver, as required
  • Participate in special projects and campus events
  • Collaborate in the continuous improvement and standardization of payroll processes

Knowledge/Education:

  • Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of payroll experience
  • Canadian Payroll Association (Payroll Compliance Certification) is an asset
  • Knowledge of Employment Standards and payroll regulations
  • Previous experience with Ceridian Dayforce payroll software

Skills:

  • Exceptional MS Office skills including Excel and comfortable utilizing a variety of IT systems including, but not limited to, an intranet, databases, etc.
