Position: Occupational Therapist - Permanent
Location: Kemptville Board Office
Hours of work: 35 hours/week
Salary: $72,286 - $86,034
Effective: Immediately

- Graduate of an accredited university occupational therapy program with a minimum of a bachelor’s degree or
equivalent.
- Registered with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- A combination of required education and a minimum of three (3) years pediatric experience.
- Experience working with clients with multiple exceptionalities
- Knowledge of the Education Act and associated regulations, the Family Services Act, Sexual Assault and Child
Abuse Protocols, the Freedom of Information Act and have the ability to follow established Board procedures.
- Demonstrated experience in assessment and consultation for students in an educational setting.
- Ability to use discretion and maintain information in the strictest confidence.
- Ability to function collaboratively as an active member of the Special Education team and provide professional
support and guidance.
- Effective written and oral communications skills, interpersonal, analytical, organizational, time management and
presentation skills are required.
- Demonstrated ability to use personal computers and associated software.
- A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle, and willingness to travel to rural schools across the CDSBEO are
required.

A. Job Identification:
Title: Occupational Therapist
Immediate Supervisor: Superintendent of Special Education
B. Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Superintendent and Principal of Special educations, the Occupational Therapist is
responsible for providing occupational therapy assessments as well as resource services for students across the
Board as part of the multi-disciplinary team. The Occupational Therapist will consult with outside professionals,
teachers, consultants, principals and parents to address the developmental, psychosocial, environmental and
physical components for learning.
- The Occupational Therapist at CDSBEO supports all students through a tiered model of services.
- Support implementation of Universal Design of Learning principles through in-class workshops with students,
collaboration with the educational team and developing resources and tips sheets.
- Collaborate with school staff regarding students and individually assess students’ strengths and needs related to
school engagement and access to the curriculum.
- Share occupational therapy assessment data with members of the educational team, including
parent(s)/guardian(s) and students, and appropriate medical and community agencies.
- Collaborate with the educational team to develop recommendations and strategies appropriate for students’ in
their classroom and school environment.
- Provide ongoing involvement with students to ensure the continued appropriateness of initial strategies, and to
modify or expand strategies as needed.
- Refer, as appropriate, to other services and agencies.
- Make available to teachers instructional ideas that are appropriate for students within the classroom and school
environment.
- Provide professional development and capacity building training for CDSBEO staff.
- Provide information to community groups and parents concerning occupational therapy services at CDSBEO and
deliver training as requested or needed.
- Attend conferences and read relevant research journals for current developments and best practice in
occupational therapy assessment and intervention.
- Attend Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) meetings as required.
- Participate in Case Conferences, Special Education team meetings, interagency conferences, Early Identification
Committees, and other Board committees as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned which are unplanned or of a transient nature and are consistent with the above
job summary and duties.
