Network Solution Designer (contract)

Contract Details: Starting ASAP, you'd initially be on a contract until end of year. However, continuous renewal over the course of several years is desirable depending on the your performance.

This is a project focussed position where a deeper skill set and more experience is expected, with a higher rate ceiling to match. The initial project this resource will be working on is our LAN evergreen and EVPN/VXLAN migration, with some Firewall evergreen (ASA to Firepower) as well potentially. Resources don’t have to have VXLAN experience-- We will provide some basic VXLAN on Juniper training to them as part of the role.

Qualifications:

  • Computer Science degree, or Technical College diploma with a minimum of 7 years infrastructure solutions design experience and 5 years operations experience.
  • Technical leadership skill set, with at least 3 years’ experience technical leadership on large projects
  • 7+ years of experience in designing and implementing robust IT infrastructure solutions for large enterprises (LAN, WAN, and Data Centre)
  • 5+ years’ experience designing and deploying routed networks, utilizing common routing protocols such as OSPF and BGP.
  • Experience with DHCP, DNS
  • Expertise with both Cisco and Juniper hardware
  • Experience designing and deploying Cisco firewall solutions (ASA, Firepower), and a solid understanding of network security principles
  • Broad understanding of the solution details needed to deliver high performance networks, including QoS, IP SLA, VPN, WAN optimization, TACACS (on Cisco ISE), NAC, network management, etc.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • A consistent work ethic requiring minimal supervision

Nice to have:

  • Scripting abilities to automate common network analysis – i.e. Perl/Python/Ansible
  • Experience with F5 Load Balancing
  • A manufacturer certification in networking such as a CCIE, JNCIE or similar
  • Cloud experience/knowledge
  • EVPN / VXLAN experience

Location and other Key Details:

  • You will work out ofour Calgary head office
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
  • a hybrid work model, where you can work from home 2 days per week of your choosing, and be present in the office 3 days per week
