Medical Laboratory Assistant I (Open to internal Dynalife and APL applicants only) Job at DynaLIFE
Major Functions and Responsibilities
- Communicates with patients to verify identification, explaining procedures, etc.
- Reviews requisitions and patient history to identify physician's requirements
- Performs maintenance on equipment applicable to their area
- Performs urinalysis including 24 hr samples, specimen management and handling
- Delivers samples to the appropriate laboratory section
- Prepares biological samples for referral to other laboratories
- Ensures process and procedures are followed including applicable quality assurance actives such as quality control and surveys.
- Communicates any operation concerns to the appropriate individual in a timely manner.
- Actively participates in department efficiency projects as needed
- Orders laboratory and office supplies as necessary
- Answers the telephone, directing calls, relaying messages
- Carries out clerical duties such as photocopying, faxing and laminating for Microbiology staff.

Required Experience
- Must have experience as a Medical Laboratory Assistant I or student practical training as a Medical Laboratory Assistant I in Microbiology within the last 2 years
Minimum Qualifications
- Successful completion of a recognized Medical Laboratory Assistant training program or equivalent.
