About Mathnasium of Islington Village (Etobicoke): We opened our doors four years ago and have been growing, ever since. In order to keep up with the increasing number of students, we are looking for additional part-time instructors.

Mathnasium is a math-only learning centre with qualified instructors, individualized instruction and customized learning plans. We offer programs for students in grades K-12 and focus on math help and enrichment. The Mathnasium Instructor is responsible for delivering mathematical instruction to students, using the approved Mathnasium method. He/she forms the foundation of Mathnasium’s service offering by delivering exceptional math instruction for students. Instructor’s Responsibilities:

• Teach math to students via the Mathnasium methodology, using prescribed teaching practices (paid training will be provided).
• Work as part of a team and operate in a Team Teaching environment where collaboration and communication ensure all student needs are being addressed.
• Actively encourage, motivate, and engage with students during their instructional session. Building students’ confidence and self-esteem.
• Evaluate and document students’ progress.
• Correct students work and provide positive and constructive feedback.
• Assist in non-learning tasks as required.

Instructor’s Qualifications:

• You love all things math and your excitement for math shows!
• You are currently pursuing or have recently, successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree.
• Previous relevant experience teaching/interacting with children Gr. K-12 is an asset.
• You demonstrate strong math skills, and you are comfortable tutoring up to at least Gr. 9.
• The ability to tutor higher-level math (functions, calculus) is an asset.
• You are willing and excited to successfully complete training to teach, using the Mathnasium Way.
• You possess the ability to effectively engage with students in a clear and concise manner, inspire them to succeed, and establish a fun learning environment.
• A math proficiency test will be administered to assess any prospective applicants.

Compensation & Benefits:

• Hourly rate commensurate with experience and qualifications.
• Fun and rewarding team environment. This role is for in-centre teaching.
• Availability to work: Mon-Fri 2:30PM-7PM, Saturdays 10AM-2PM (either all days or a minimum of 2 select days).
• Training and monthly staff meetings will be arranged in addition to these hours.

COVID-19 considerations:
During COVID restrictions we focused on online instruction (instructors worked from home via our online learning platform). Since March 2022, we re-opened our centre and we also continue to instruct online. This role is primarily for in-centre teaching.
