The Yukon's Emergency Medical Services (EMS) team delivers a wide scope of pre-hospital care. We provide both air and ground operations and deliver medical interventions, treatments, and critical care in every corner of the Yukon.

Reporting to the Chief, Yukon Emergency Services, the Manager, EMS Operations (Deputy Chief, Whitehorse Operations) is responsible for smooth and efficient day-to-day operations of the Whitehorse EMS Stations. The Deputy Chief, Whitehorse Operations provides leadership and oversight to high-quality, cost effective, integrated, Emergency Medical Services within Whitehorse and Yukon. This includes identifying and implementing strategic processes to guide Whitehorse-based ground ambulance operations and territorial air ambulance program. The incumbent will develop business plans, standard operating procedures, and quality / risk management processes to protect the safety of EMS clients and emergency responders.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to coordinate all logistical support, scheduling, staffing processes, procurement, project management, and financial reporting related to Whitehorse Operations. The incumbent relies on a strong ability to mentor, lead and manage the performance of direct reports. They must routinely make critical operational decisions that support the delivery of effective patient care, ensure continuity of service, reduce patient morbidity, and protect the safety of the public in a dynamic, 24/ 7, emergency service environment.

- Significant pre-hospital experience working with ground and air ambulance programs as a paramedic or registered nurse
- Experience providing leadership, performance management and team building in a healthcare setting
- Demonstrated experience in a leadership role overseeing pre-hospital care providers
- Experience working collaboratively with community partners and stakeholders to build capacity
- Experience implementing operational policies, practices, procedures, standards, and medical risk management protocols
- Experience monitoring and managing operational budgets would be an asset
Candidates who have education, training, and/or experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Conditions of Employment:
- Medical clearance
- Vulnerable sector check (completed within 2 weeks of hire)
- Valid PCP, ACP,CCP or RN licence.
- Valid Class 4 driver’s licence (or equivalent)
