About Us


The Alberta Ombudsman’s Office is an independent office of the Alberta Legislative Assembly, responsible for responding to complaints of unfair treatment by provincial government authorities, municipalities, the Patient Concerns Resolution Process of Alberta Health Services, health professions and other designated professional organizations under the Ombudsman Act.

Role


As an investigator with the Alberta Ombudsman's office, you will investigate complaints about administrative decisions made by organizations within the public service. The Ombudsman's jurisdiction includes Alberta departments, agencies, boards, and commissions; municipalities; the Patient Concerns Resolution Process of Alberta Health Services; and designated professional colleges. Our office gives you the opportunity to investigate a wide variety of complaints raised by Albertans.

Reporting to a Manager, Investigations, you will be involved in the office’s intake process, complaint analysis, early resolution process, and investigations. You will be responsible for conducting investigations independently, as well as assisting with more complex or systemic investigations. A focus on building positive relationships as you work with various departments is crucial for this role.

Qualifications


University graduation in a related field, plus two years related experience is required, or equivalencies as follows:

A related two-year diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution and four years related experience; or a related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and five years related experience.

To be successful, the candidate will require the ability to think critically and participate in a team environment. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills are essential. The ability to research and analyze policy and legislation is important and experience handling highly sensitive and confidential information is considered an asset for this position.

Govt. of Alberta experience is considered an asset.

Salary


$2,556.47 – $3,505.75 Bi-Weekly

$66,724 – $91,500 Yearly
