Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Site Plans, you will assist in providing technical support to the Planning and Regulatory Services Department - Development Engineering Division, on various types of land development applications and municipal infrastructure design.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following activities:

  • Assist with the engineering plan review and the processing of development applications (site plans, severances, minor variances)
  • Conduct site inspections and fieldwork assessments (pre and post development construction)
  • Investigate and track complaints on project and construction related activities
  • Liaise with applicants, contractors and internal departments on development applications
  • Create/update CAD drawing for City Standards
  • Perform calculations and queries in a spreadsheet and database environment
  • Assist in the research of emerging trends and industry practices associated with high-rise construction and sustainable land development
  • Maintain files and correspondence on active and completed projects
  • Other administrative duties as required

Education and Experience

Enrollment in a Civil Engineering Technology program or a related discipline

Required Skills/Knowledge

  • Basic knowledge of municipal engineering design principles and construction methods
  • Ability to analyze and read municipal engineering drawings with a good understanding of municipal infrastructure (i.e.; watermain, wastewater, storm sewer, roads, etc.)
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, spreadsheet, database and word processing applications
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in an interactive team environment
  • You demonstrate Richmond Hill’s corporate values of care, collaboration, courage and service
  • Possess a valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's License and have access to a vehicle for use on corporate business (mileage compensated)
  • You will be required to provide proof of vehicle insurance upon hire
  • Possess your own CSA certified steel toe safety boots for fieldwork
