The position is based in Paris, Ontario.

The superintendent is expected to work closely with the Plant Manager to ensure continuous improvement in the following areas: Inbound Operations, Outbound Operations, Claims Processing & On-time Customer Delivery.

  • Lead and manage unionized hourly personnel
    • Basic administration of supervisory responsibilities and documents
    • Coach Safety, Quality and Productivity to ensure objectives are met through following standardized work
    • Create a conducive work environment for the team(s) to complete their assigned responsibilities / tasks
    • Support Continuous Improvement and coach problem resolution to the lowest level
    • Build Team Leader and Team Member capability
    • Communication & recognition of salaried & hourly personnel
  • Direct, mentor and train all supervisory staff
  • Provide coverage for supervisor absences
  • Foster a positive working relationship with Unifor local leadership
  • Schedule manpower (including TPT, overtime and vacations)
  • Responsible for the daily material handling functions for the facility
  • Ensure proper material flow from receiving dock, to warehouse storage location, to the delivery of parts to customers
  • Provide direction and support in the allocation of resources in order to appropriately cover material handling responsibilities
  • Ensure flawless flow of parts through proactive planning and cross-functional communication
  • Effectively implement the Engineering Change Process
  • Identify data gaps and take corrective actions.
  • Ensure overall organization and cleanliness of the facility

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education: Completion of Post-Secondary (Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of degree completion for the highest level of education attained. If the degree was obtained from a school outside of Canada, an Education Credential Assessment report showing Canadian equivalency is also required.)
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Currently 10am to 6pm however, ability to work any shift as well as rotating shifts, weekends and overtime is required. Shift schedule will be subject to change at the Paris site
  • Experience:
    • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
    • Capable of assigning work to unionized hourly workforce and holding employees accountable for following processes pertaining to daily work assignments in terms of safety, quality, and throughput
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills; ability to multi-task
    • Strong problem-solving and conflict management skills
    • Self-starter
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Strong change management skills
    • Able to interpret data, evaluate actions and reach logical conclusions independently
  • Must have a continuous improvement mindset
  • Successful candidate must be able to demonstrate leadership in Ford Truths (leadership) behaviors combined with outstanding interpersonal, teambuilding, and communication skills

Preferred Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Operations, Transportation & Logistics, Supply Chain Management & Information Systems, Applied Engineering Science, Packaging Engineering, or Business Mgmt.
  • Experience supervising in a unionized environment
  • Experience:
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
    • Safety and MP&L experience preferred
    • Knowledge of constraint management principles
