Controller
Due to growth within our company, we are seeking a Controller to join our accounting team in Hawkesville (just outside of Waterloo). Our Finance team are integral members of the Chervin family and facilitate a key step in the journey of bringing our clients’ dreams to life.
This is a full-time position with 44 hours a week(on site). Wage commensurate with experience. Benefits are provided after the 3-month probationary period.

Since 1991, Chervin has been designing, manufacturing, and installing high-end custom cabinetry in homes across Waterloo Region. Over the years, Chervin has expanded to serve the GTA and Muskoka region. Chervin has also built and acquired 4 sister companies which have given us the opportunity to be a key player in the markets for luxury hotel furniture, residential furniture, custom upholstered furniture, and home décor.

RESPONSIBILITIES
o Assist in preparing the monthly/quarterly financial statements in an accurate and timely manner
o Team player - coaching and developing Finance team members and broadening the fundamental understanding of finance/accounting across the organization
o Assist in developing processes to ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures
o Lead the ERP implementation (M1) from the Finance and costing perspective
o Provide direct support to plant management team in a variety of financial, accounting and operational areas
o Review job costing reports and data to ensure accuracy and completeness
o Prepare Cashflow reports and projections
o Work as a representative of the Company with external authorities (eg. banks, CRA)
o Managing processes for cashflows, financial forecasting, cost accounting, budgets, and consolidation and reporting
o Overseeing all aspects of the Financial, Controls, and Accounting functions
o Key business partner across all functions, providing financial and data-driven guidance to assess areas for improvement and to drive profitability
o Assist in providing timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual Forecasting and Budgeting Cycles, identifies opportunities & risks, and actively supports operational and sourcing planning to achieve results
o Supports the President in analyzing data and to support the development and improvement strategies

REQUIREMENTS
o BS in Accounting or Finance; CPA and/or MBA preferred
o Minimum 8+ years of relevant financial experience
o Prior manufacturing experience or exposure to inventory/cost accounting required
o Job shop or project-based manufacturing experience a must
o Advanced skill in MS Excel (familiarity with VLOOKUPs and pivot tables) a must
o In-depth understanding of Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (ASPE)
o Experience implementing ERP systems, Eci M1 an asset

o Experience in a multi-currency environment a plus
