*POSITION SUMMARY* Serving Taku River Tlingit First Nation child, youth, and family citizens in Whitehorse and Atlin. The position is to alternate service delivery on a biweekly basis with one week in Whitehorse and one week in Atlin. Assesses clients and their families. Develops, implements and evaluates family-based intervention plans; participates in the development, implementation and evaluation of client service plans with the integrated case management team *DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES* · Networks and collaborates with other provincial, territorial, federal, and First Nation agencies and professionals who may have a case planning relationship with the client (s) being served. Works as a team member collaboratively in planning with other related Taku River Tlingit First Nation staff and family members of the client (s) · Provides direct, community based, culturally sensitive, mental health, addictions, and family violence counselling services for children, youth and their families. These services include but are not limited to: prevention and promotion initiatives; planning and delivery of community based mental health, addictions, and family violence therapeutic counselling services; case management; and providing crisis response, supported living, consumer self-help and vocational/education services. · Interviews clients and families, prepares case histories, assesses problems and outlines services provided by the organization. Provides information on and referral to other community service providers, resources and professionals as required’ · Conducts and prepares clinical assessments. · Develops family-based intervention plans; participates in the development of client service plans with the integrated case management team. · Plans, prepares and conducts individual, group or family counselling sessions using therapeutic techniques drawn from theoretical frameworks such as family systems, solutions-focused, narrative, psycho-dynamics. Provides crisis intervention and ongoing assessment as required. · Provides support and guidance to clients and families; facilitates positive family communication, assists clients in making positive changes and solving problems related to family functioning. · Provides parenting skill building to clients on issues such as parent-child interaction, child development, discipline and guidance, and behaviour management. · Provides emotional support and feedback to clients. · Participates in integrated case management meetings or meet with professionals and social workers on a regular basis to report clients’ activities and progress, discuss case planning issues and concerns, and evaluate the effectiveness of the counselling intervention. · Maintains related records and statistics. Produces reports such as intake, progress and discharge in accordance with established policies and guidelines. · Liaises with other community service providers, professionals to coordinate services and to ensure that interests of clients is considered in decisions affecting them. Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments as required · Actively does proposal writing and seeks additional funding to assist with the positions program mandates and completes required program and financial reporting for TRTFN and funding agencies. · Develop individual and group Jordan’s Principal applications. · Other related duties as required. *WORKING CONDITIONS* Ÿ Work setting includes the office, and potentially on the land and includes home visits Ÿ Interacting daily with elders, youth, children, families, staff, and other community members to facilitate position responsibilities. *EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE* * Proven ability to work with children, youth, and families * Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills. * Problem solving and critical thinking skills · Able to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision as well as working within a collaborative team framework. · Understanding of family systems and child development along with relevant legislation and policy. · Proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly for drafting documents, data management, maintaining accurate, timely and thorough clinical documentation, and tracking quality improvements *Training, Education & Experience* · Master’s degree in social science with 1 year of relevant counselling experience in a scope of practice or experience in addictions, mental health, and/or family violence. · Clinical counseling registration · Class 5 driver’s license · Satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check *CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT* · Class 5 driver’s license · Criminal Record Check & Vulnerable Sector Check · References

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $93,000.00-$108,000.00 per year
