Finish Excavator Operator

Fort McMurray First Nation Group of Companies is seeking seasoned and safety conscious Finish Excavator Operators to join our team, working on numerous projects and sites within the Fort McMurray area.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Proficiently operate 30 to 40 ton excavators as it applies to ditching, excavating, sloping, stripping overburden, and stacking and stockpiling muskeg
• Moving and segregating rock, debris and/or material
• Finish grade on ditches, berms, and slopes; all with a high level of precision
• Build roads and oilfield leases and pads
• Operate two-way radios and other communication equipment, perform minor repairs to equipment
• Adhere to workplace safety policies, regulations, and compliances,
• Identify defects in heavy-duty equipment, communicate any unsafe conditions, incidents/injuries in a timely manner to the supervisor in order to facilitate prompt correction and reporting
• Clean, lubricate and perform preventative maintenance work
• Perform pre and post-trip inspections on equipment
• Accurate completion of work orders and safety documentation
• Adhere to all company and client safe work practices and policies

QUALIFICATIONS

• 10 years+ progressive experience as an Excavator Operator. Finishing experience is required
• Ability to access all sites within the Fort McMurray area
• Understanding of simple survey layout and reading grade stakes is considered an asset
• Previous experience in overburden and reclamation
• Excellent understanding of equipment safety and work practices
• Knowledge and firm understanding of equipment maintenance and storage
• Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine inspections for maintenance
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and safely operate heavy equipment in various applications
• Must be able to work with little supervision and willing to follow or take direction as needed
• Possess a valid driver’s license and a clean drivers abstract
• Must successfully complete a pre-access drug and alcohol test
• Required Tickets: CSO/BSO, WHMIS, CSTS, Ground Disturbance II, H2S Alive, TDG and First Aid
