Elementary and Secondary Principal and Vice-Principal Job at Peel District School Board
The Peel District School Board (PDSB) is a racially, culturally and linguistically diverse board that serves 155,000+ students and approximately 17,000 employees. In PDSB, 87% of students are racialized, non-white, representing 162 different ethnic backgrounds. Students in Peel have 121 different first languages. Student diversity also exists in terms of gender and gender expression, sexuality and in terms of ability and faith. A responsive and empathetic understanding of the lived experiences of the students and communities we serve is vital to those who will take on leadership roles within the PDSB. The workforce consists of teachers, office staff, custodial staff, education assistants and professional staff. The workforce is largely unionized through PDSB’s numerous affiliated bargaining agents.
We are currently accepting applications for the positions of Elementary and Secondary Principal and Vice-Principal.
To apply for the position of Vice-Principal, candidates must have the following:
At least 5 completed years of successful teaching experience as a full-time permanent teacher within a recognized education institution – please note some Canadian experience is necessary and Ontario experience is an asset
Completion of Part I and Part II of the Principal’s Qualification Program (including Practicum)
Completion of Special Education Part I or greater
Current performance appraisal (within the last 5 years) (for internal applicants as per Human Resources Support Services 35A)
Demonstrated evidence of a clear commitment to Employment Equity, Human Rights and the Peel board priorities of dismantling racism, in particular anti-Black racism, and leading through an anti-oppressive framework
Demonstrated evidence of intentional and impactful interruption of acts of oppression and racism against children, youth, families and/or colleagues
Demonstrated breadth and depth of leadership ability in a variety of contexts; including strong instructional leadership rooted in modern pedagogies and focused on student-centred learning approaches
Demonstration of transformational leadership that positively impacts student achievement and well-being and has been focused on decolonizing the curriculum and learning environment
Proven ability to engage communities and lead across intersections in ways that positively impact student success and family engagement
Proven ability to co-create a learning environment that positively focuses on the development of the whole child, with a specific focus on students from communities that have been historically and are currently marginalized by systemic barriers
Demonstrated effective leadership when advocating for students with special education and other needs; applying a depth of knowledge of related policies and procedures
Purposeful and deliberate demonstration of personal leadership resources in action across all leadership domains

Successful experience in the formal role of Vice-Principal at the time of application (including acting roles where the candidate was already in the VP promotion pool) (please note some Canadian experience is necessary and Ontario experience is an asset)
