Drilling Waste Field Consultant Job at Ridgeline Canada Inc.
THE JOB:
Ridgeline Environment, a division of Ridgeline Canada, is recruiting for a Drilling Waste Field Consultant based out of Calgary, Edmonton, Red Deer, Lethbridge or surroundings areas. This position will be strictly a contracting position.
RESPONSBILITIES AT HAND:
- Lead and supervise drilling waste management projects
- Identify and line up suitable land for landspray disposal
- Identify and line up suitable water sources for drilling operations, including sampling and analyzing the sources
- Provide support as required for gaining government approval of water sources
- Sample and field and/or lab test receiving soils
- Sample and field and/or lab test drilling fluid to meet landspray while drilling requirements as well as other potential waste disposal options
- Be on site for cementing operations and ensure drilling fluid remains unimpacted
- Communicate with drilling rig personnel, and contractors
- Oversee vacuum truck operators and ensure proper disposal loading rates
- Complete Drilling Waste management reports
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Land reclamation, Agrology, Chemistry, Engineering, or equivalent;
- Minimum 5 years of related field experience and previous experience as a supervisor/crew lead
- Understanding of drilling rig operations
- Understanding of the upstream oil and gas regulatory requirements in AB & BC
- Strong soil characterization and identification skills
- Good physical health with willingness to travel and work in the field for extended periods
- WCB in good standing
- Set up as a Registered Company and has Business Insurance
- Possess current field certifications including H2S Alive, First Aid, etc.
- Possess equipment to complete drilling waste management: all required PPE, GPS, Computer, Cell Phone, etc.
- Valid driver’s license and owns reliable 4X4 vehicle

- Self motivated – ability to work unsupervised
- Possess a strong regard for safety and demonstrate exemplary safety leadership
- Availability to work and travel as required for project needs
- Proficient in Microsoft Programs (Outlook, Excel, Word, OneNote, TEAMS, etc.)
- Excellent leadership skills, strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to adapt to changing environments
