Digitization Assistant (student) Job at Town of Newmarket
Job Description
Under the direction of the Deputy Town Clerk, the Digitization Assistant (Student) is responsible for providing digitization support to the Corporation in the Legislative Services Department. This includes scanning, digitization of records, establishing digitization standards, and assisting with records management projects.
Job Requirements
This position is eligible for the Canada Summer Jobs grant program. To be eligible, youth must meet the following eligibility requirements:
be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period*;
be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment**; and,
have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
Currently enrolled in or successful completion of post-secondary library science archival sciences, public administration, political science or related program or equivalent training and related experience.
Theoretical knowledge of record information management, electronic records management principles with strong records management skill.
Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
Good attention to detail and ability to plan and organize each digitization project.
Ability to anticipate/identify problems and propose alternatives.
Strong knowledge of computer software applications in a Windows environment including Microsoft Office and spreadsheet applications (e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and internet along with a working knowledge of electronic filing systems.
Good interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), organizational, analytical skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
Well organized and the ability to meet deadlines in fast-paced environment.
