Job Description:
Reporting to the Associate Vice President, External Relations, the Dean provides strategic leadership, planning, administration, and evaluation of the portfolio, including programs, employees, policies, procedures, facilities and budget in accordance with the College’s strategic goals. Working with employees and other constituents, the Dean leads the development of a shared vision, mission and goals that encompass the Continuing Studies Department. While maintaining the highest levels of educational quality assurance, the Dean is also responsible to ensure that the Continuing Studies initiatives are based on a revenue-generation model.

The Dean fosters an environment in which personal and high quality standards, cross-cultural understanding, student engagement and well-being flourish. The Dean utilizes the College’s strategic framework to allocate Continuing Studies resources for the creation and implementation of innovative programs that prepare students for career and life long learning.

Qualifications Required:
Education & Experience
  • Relevant graduate degree in addition to a minimum of ten (10) years of related working experience including at least seven years’ employment with increasing responsibilities in post-secondary education or another relevant sector. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Thorough knowledge of current trends in the area of Continuing Studies and adult education.
  • Instructional and/or administrative experience in the field of Continuing Studies, preferably in a college setting.
  • Experience in strategic planning.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of operational plans.
  • Proven track record of curriculum development.
  • Understanding of the principles and practices of quality assurance, program review and renewal.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic enrolment management.
  • Considerable knowledge of and experience with budgetary processes, including the development and administration of budgets.
  • Working knowledge of and experience with the administration of collective agreements.
  • Experience in a variety of modes of teaching and learning.

  • Superior ability to develop, interpret, and apply College, government, agency, and departmental policies, procedures and guidelines, and collective agreements.

  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, and to deliver student-focused engagement programs and services
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Salary Range:
$64.70 - $99.21 per hour

Pay Grade:
Admin Paygrade 16

Compensation beyond the mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employers’ Council Secretariat (PSEC).

Scheduled Weekly Hours:

Hours may vary according to the needs of the department.
