ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION: Pacific Theatre aspires to delight, provoke and stimulate dialogue by producing theatre that rigorously explores the spiritual aspects of human experience. In over 35 seasons, Pacific Theatre has produced more than 150 professional mainstage productions ranging from established works to original world premieres featuring some of the top theatre artists from Vancouver and across the continent.

Practitioners at Pacific Theatre work on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish peoples of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skxwú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

JOB DESCRIPTION / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • You are an outgoing, detail-oriented individual who wants every Pacific Theatre patron to feel welcomed and valued.
  • You report primarily to the Office Manager, and share responsibility for the smooth and efficient functioning of our box office and front of house.

This involves:

  • Selling tickets & subscriptions, processing and soliciting donations at the box office
  • Answering patron box office inquiries by email and over the phone
  • Preparing box office reports as required, and reconciling cash and credit sales at the beginning and end of shifts
  • Assist in the set up and break down of event spaces, as required.
  • Assist patrons with finding the precise location of their seats according to their ticket information.
  • Aid patrons who have disabilities or other special needs in finding an appropriate seat or section for them to enjoy the show comfortably.
  • Follow all incidents and emergency procedures regarding venue evacuation and know the location of all exits throughout the building
  • Setting up, running and cashing out concession at the end of the shift

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A demonstrated commitment to positive customer experience
  • Great communication skills and a positive attitude
  • A curiosity mindset: you ask questions, seek your own answers, and/or seek help from others.
  • Competent computer skills (e.g. Excel, Google suite, etc. Theatre Manager software experience a bonus!)
  • Prior experience handling cash and balancing a till
  • You are comfortable working with a small, diverse, and friendly team.

Hours of Work: Shifts available Saturday and Sunday afternoons 12:00pm – 5:00pm and Wednesday to Saturday 5:00pm - 10:00pm
