We are currently looking to hire AGCS Trainee - Claims Associate as part of the Associates Program based in Toronto.

The Impact You Will Have
Through a professional development program the trainee will learn to proactively investigate, evaluate and negotiate resolution of assigned commercial claims in accordance with established best practices and assure claims are handled within granted authority limits. Will develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients as well as internal business partners. Training includes efficient claims handling within a team environment while working with third-party service providers in achieving economical results and to provide high quality service to all internal and external relationships.

Some of your specific responsibilities could include:
  • Trained to Investigate and Reserve Claims: learn to evaluate, address coverage issues and determine appropriate reserving levels.
  • Learn to process settlements, including negotiation and resolution of claims ensuring cost effective, service-oriented solutions, and ensure claims are settled in accordance with settlement guidelines.
  • Ensure all claims are handled within authority limits, and in line with AGCS claims procedures and guidelines.
  • Refer cases outside of authority levels, preparing referral documentation and materials as appropriate, and support establishment of claims management procedures on new business accounts.
  • Support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, and liaise with underwriters on market management initiatives.
  • Positively represent AGCS externally to the market and develop and maintain relationships with brokers and clients, as well as other relevant stakeholders (e.g., third party adjusters).
  • Proactively drive involvement of functional areas in claims handling process, e.g., Underwriting operations, and effectively report and present claims information internally and externally.
  • Input and maintain accurate claims records for designated accounts, within appropriate AGCS claims administration systems.
What You’ll Bring to the Role:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
  • Willingness to enroll and complete courses through the Insurance Institute of Canada
  • Ability to learn to handle claims involving coverage and damage issues
  • Ability to learn/understand claims handling process
  • Ability to analyze data, from multiple sources, in detail
  • Identify and resolve issues before they transpire
  • Ability to negotiate best positions for AGCS and client, sometimes in contentious situations, managing conflicting priorities of various parties
  • Knowledge of office application tools, e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point is preferred, but not required
  • Ability to express ideas and messages clearly, both written and verbally
  • Ability to "sell" claim service abilities as a marketing tool
  • Multilingual is a plus

The annualized base pay range for this role is $51,767 to $87,851. The annual base salary range represents a nationwide market range. The actual salary for this position may be above and will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate. The base pay is just one component of the AGCS total compensation package. As part of our comprehensive compensation and highly rated benefits programs, employees are also eligible for annual performance-based cash incentive awards.
