ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGIST - PERMANENT PART-TIME

N22-26

PRIMARY DUTIES

Working as part of integral member of a multidisciplinary team in Diagnostic Imaging. You will produce and record high quality ultrasound images using a variety of modalities and techniques as required completing the examinations requested. You work independently as the expert in ultrasound at Campbellford Memorial Hospital and have the ability to identify urgent medical conditions within your scope of practice for immediate attention of the appropriate physician.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Successful completion of accredited ultrasound program
  • Eligible to be registered with Sonography Canada - formerly Canadian Association for

Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP)/Canadian Society of DiagnosticMedical Sonographers (CSDMS) or registered with American Registry of DiagnosticSonographers (ARDMS)

  • Current BCLS certificate
  • Experience as an ultrasound technologist in a health care facility with experience in a variety of ultrasound imaging modalities and techniques

SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work with patients independently and identify urgent medical indicators within the scope of practice and have the ability to alert the physician of urgent patient conditions that could affect treatment or further testing.
  • Computer skills, knowledge of EPIC, Microsoft Office, PACs. Knowledge of appropriate ultrasound platforms and reporting software.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment using excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize duties
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with patients, staff and physicians
  • Demonstrates an understanding of ethical behaviours and confidentiality requirement in a health care institution.
  • Ability to represent the Hospital with professionalism and compassion for patients and families
  • As a single incumbent position must be able to maintain good attendance and punctuality.

This position also requires availability for on-call shifts.

  • Possesses and continually acquires knowledge relevant to the professional service s/he provides through critical thinking.
