Who we are

The Tourism Development Branch is responsible for providing vision and leadership around tourism, experience and business development to New Brunswick tourism entrepreneurs, small businesses, and destinations. The branch plays a key role in bringing a heightened level of entrepreneurship, quality and innovation to the tourism industry.

What you will do

We are currently looking for two highly motivated individuals to join our Team as officers for (1) Outdoor Adventure, Fish and Hunt and (2) Hospitality, Culinary and Service sectors.

Reporting to the Director of Tourism Development, the successful candidate(s) will be a key part of the Tourism Development team and be responsible to:

  • Provide leadership and guidance to partners and colleagues while ensuring exceptional client experience and service delivery is provided
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout the Province of New Brunswick and beyond
  • Assist the Director in the development and implementation of the sector strategy
  • Provide guidance, mentoring and assistance to existing and potential tourism operators, within the assigned sector, in the development of their products/solutions
  • Build and maintain strategic professional relationships and create a reliable networking environment with agencies at the regional, provincial, and federal levels to identify funding programs supporting industry
  • Identify sector tourism needs and develop solutions
  • Identify opportunities for operators to enhance their products/experiences through various programs and/or workshops
  • Collaborate across Tourism, Heritage and Culture and other departments within GNB to further the goals of the Tourism Development branch, both within the identified sector and across the branch as required
  • Other related duties as required

Work Environment

  • Office location: Marysville Place, Fredericton
  • Office layout: Open offices
  • Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 am - 4:30 pm
  • Work flexibility outside of normal hours and travel throughout the province may be required

Your attitude, skills and interests are just as important as your area of study. We are looking for diverse backgrounds that bring a combination of the following:

Need to have

  • A University degree in Business Administration, Hospitality and Tourism, Parks and Recreation or a related field and a minimum of four (4) years of related work experience
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required for one position, and written and spoken competence in English is required for one position

Nice to have

  • Experience in the tourism and hospitality industry
  • Experience in Hotels, Restaurants and/or the service industry
  • Experience in business development and/or entrepreneurship
  • Experience managing multiple priority projects at once to meet demanding deadlines

Wage

$2,056.00 to $2,876.00 bi-weekly (Pay Band 4)
