Student Recruitment Adviser (Part-time) Job at Sheridan College
Preference will be given to qualified regular part-time employees within the Part Time Support Staff bargaining unit at Sheridan College. Should a suitable candidate not be found, external candidates will be considered.
Reporting to the Manager of Student Recruitment (Domestic), Office of the Registrar, the Student Recruitment Adviser will provide assistant in the day-to-day operations of the Student Recruitment Office and play a leadership role in Sheridan’s prospective on-campus and virtual engagement activities.
What You’ll be Doing
Conduct advising appointments to internal and external prospective students; discuss program options, career opportunities, online career advising tools, transfer options, post-secondary admission process, and post-secondary policies and procedures;
Conduct presentations to prospective students and assist with the campus tour and group visit programs;
Providing the first point of contact in a multi-channel environment supporting prospective students, applicants and the public that supports the customer service model for Sheridan and establishes a positive customer relationship;
Assist in the planning of, and participate in, all student recruitment on-campus activities;
Perform routine administrative functions in a confidential and professional manner such as
Developing detailed reports relating to prospective groups visit activity, identifying issues and areas for improvement;
Maintaining and updating inventory, mailing and database systems;
Receiving and forwarding telephone, in-person or email inquiries, effectively communicating with several internal departments, and providing general information to clients and the public;
Working with the Student Admissions Representatives (STARS), where appropriate, to support the career advising presentations and book resulting campus tours, etc.;
Exercise discretion, independent judgement and problem solving to assess needs and situation;
Occasionally participate in off-campus events and community outreach activities, e.g. Ontario College Fair, High School Fair, etc.;
Other duties as assigned.

You have excellent oral and written communication skills.
You enjoy balancing many different tasks and can prioritize multiple projects while staying organized and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
You enjoy working independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
You use your interpersonal skills to build working relationships and provide excellent customer service.
The successful candidate(s) will also meet the following:
Successfully completed a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
2 years experience in an advising or student recruitment function (within the educational sector preferred)
Experience working in a post-secondary institution, and knowledge in the admission and recruitment process considered an asset
Public speaking experience considered an asset
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
Available to work overtime weeks as required

Campus Location : Trafalgar (may be assigned activities at any Sheridan campus). This position is currently working in a hybrid format with a combination of on campus (3 days) and remote work (2 days). This may be subject to change based on operational needs.
Employee Group : Part-time Support - Regular
Hourly Rate : $28.45 + 4% in lieu of benefits and vacation
Hours/Week : 24 hours with overtime (full-time weeks) as required
Hours : Monday to Thursday from 9:00am -3:00pm (1 hour lunch) and Friday from 10:00am -3:00pm (1 hour lunch)
