SCOPE AND GENERAL PURPOSE

To offer a hospitable welcome to all guests and provide timely and professional service of food and beverage items within the Restaurant.

MAIN DUTIES

1. Take and serve guest orders promptly and according to service standards.

2. Do all necessary set-up as assigned.

3. Answer any guest questions about the menu.

4. Operate the electronic cash register/P.O.S. system.

5. Check food before serving it to guest to ascertain that appearance, temperature and portions are correct.

6. Welcome all guests achieving professional and courteous seating in the absence of the Supervisor/Host or Hostess to achieve guest satisfaction and even distribution of tables to servers.

7. Perform quality checks and monitor assigned tables.

8. Be informed and able to “sell” all items on the menu assisting with guest choice as required and achieving or surpassing targeted average spends on food and liquor.

9. Achieve accurate recording/processing of all food and beverage orders.

10. Ensure prompt and professional clearing and resetting of tables in order to maximize on covers and revenues.

11. Achieve timely and professional service of all food and beverage items ensuring full compliance with company polices and licensing regulations.

12. Be certified in the service of alcoholic beverages.

13. Perform cashiering duties/pass on fully completed bills resulting in accurate billing of items and correct handling/security of cash, credit cards and guestroom charges.

14. Follow opening and closing procedures.

15. Answer the telephone promptly and courteously, accepting table reservations, room service/take-out orders and recording/passing on messages.

16. Be competent in the setting up/service/clearing of food and beverage as applicable to meeting rooms/functions ensuring all items are recorded/charged.

17. Minimize breakage by neat and safe stacking of items at the dishwashing area.

18. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

1. Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation.

2. Responsible beverage service certification

3. Ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check.

4. Ability to stand for long periods of time.

5. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, customers and patrons.

6. Ability to lift at least 30 lbs.

7. Must have the ability to communicate in English.

8. Always maintain a professional appearance and manner.

9. Strong customer service skills

11. Experience with a Point of Sales systems is an asset.

GENERAL STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Greet or acknowledge all guests employing the Ten and Five Rule.

2. To provide exceptional customer service to all internal and external clients.

3. Take ownership for the solution of issues, hazards, or deficiencies that you encounter during your duties. This could include but not limited to utilizing service recovery techniques to address a guest issue, tidying up a spill in the corridor, reporting damage in a room, etc.

4. Be decisive and take action that you feel aligns with our Organizational Mindsets.

5. Be a team player and provide help where and when it is needed. We do not prescribe to the “that is not my job” attitude.

6. To attend meetings as requested and to recognize the importance of contributing new ideas, competing viewpoints, and initiative to the overall success of the operation.

16. To adhere to all matters relating to hygiene, health, safety, and emergency procedures.

17. To comply with WHMIS regulations and all Health and Safety policies and procedures.

18. To keep your work area clean and tidy.

19. To ensure the use of personal protective equipment as appropriate.

20. To contribute to the security of the building, company assets and guest/co-worker safety with full adherence to security procedures with proper handling of keys/cash as appropriate.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Salary: $16.00-$23.00 per hour
