Senior Treasury Analyst, Liquidity & Regulatory - 2 Year Term Job at Alterna
Scope of Position
The Senior Treasury Analyst, Liquidity & Regulatory contributes to the development, monitoring and reporting of Alterna’s Liquidity positions and development of liquidity and capital forecast, including monitoring of upcoming prudential regulatory developments; participating in impact analysis and assisting advocacy activities prior to new rules implementation.
The position plays a key role in the preparation of liquidity reporting to provincial and federal regulators on a timely and accurate basis. The position provides opportunity for the individual to contribute their expertise on various strategic initiatives and continuously improve the current reporting structure.
Major Responsibilities
- Production of the Liquidity ratios for the Credit Union and the Bank.
- Analyzing the various liquidity risk metrics and provide solutions of mitigating/reducing these risks.
- Collects and verifies the accuracy of information used for regulatory reporting using internal and external information sources;
- Analyses and reports on the Credit Union and the Bank’s liquidity and other regulatory metrics at ALCO meetings;
- Develops, models, presents, and implements liquidity and capital management strategies for ALCO integrating the organization’s goals and strategies;
- Supports managers in understanding the regulatory impact of their decision-making, including the use of assumptions to permit the quantification of qualitative concepts;
- Forecasts regulatory metrics to aid management in developing plans and making decisions, and assisting in the interpretation of such information;
- Oversees the compliance reporting for the Treasury Risk Management policies;
- Develops, analyzes, and forecasts the regulatory metrics using the budget in conjunction with Executive Leadership Team;
- Plays a role in the Annual Operating Plan process by assisting Management in developing and analyzing the budgeted regulatory metrics and subsequent yearly variance analysis;
- Prepares the Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (“ICAAP”) report for internal and external stakeholders
- Participates in organization stress testing exercise to develop plausible but reasonable scenarios and quantifying their impact on the regulatory metrics;
- Recommends Board and Management policy changes as required;
- Exchanges methods and results with a network of peers at other financial institutions to provide enhanced financial added-value and expertise to the organization;
- Participates in special cross-functional projects as requested by the VP Treasury
Qualifications
Education / Certifications / Experience
- Professional accounting or financial certification or degree such as CFA/ MBA/ CPA (CGA/CA/CMA).
- Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience in a Treasury or Financial reporting role(s),
- 2 years’ experience in liquidity reporting role.
Knowledge / Skills
- Superior analytical and problem-solving skills and proficiency in the understanding of Credit Union and Bank regulatory regimes.
- Experience with treasury, banking systems, and financial products & services technologies.
- Knowledge of industry trends and practices.
- Database analysis and usage
- Sound knowledge of banking business and finance theory
- Knowledge of capital markets, money markets, foreign exchange markets, including high level knowledge of financial derivatives and options
