Senior Scrum Master
Total Systems Solutions Consulting Inc. represents an association of independent IMITS Consultants based in British Columbia. We are seeking a partner consultant for the Registries and Online Services, Service BC, Ministry of Citizen’s Services, Province of British Columbia. You must be available to work remote full-time 40 hours per week.
Background
The BC Registries and Online Services (BC-ROS) team administers and supports BC Online and all incorporations and registrations of businesses, not-for-profit societies, cooperatives, personal property and manufactured homes in the Province of BC. These services are provided through a number of channels including in-person, phone and online.
BC-ROS is replacing its legacy applications, including mainframe applications, with modern tech stacks that support a DevOps continuous improvement approach to the delivery of digital services. A new set of BC-ROS agile product teams will develop the new applications at the Province's Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) Lab, a government accelerator for Agile software teams with a strong community of software developers. The Agile team will use the Agile Methodology, human-centered design, open source languages and frameworks, and a cutting-edge enterprise containerization platform.
Availability
The anticipated term of this opportunity is for 2 years.
It is expected that the Contractor will be available 100% remotely
Deliverables
1. As a senior scrum master, for two interdependent Agile product teams organize and conduct all of the Agile Scrum Framework ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, backlog grooming and product demos.
2. Remove impediments for team members that block them from completing their work.
3. Interface with personnel and product owners on an active basis to manage product backlogs and sprint activities.
4. Maintain relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing, and leveraging metrics to continuously improve the team's efficiency and performance.
5. Liaise between product management, developers, testers and business stakeholders to foster quality communication.
6. Provide appropriate oversight on the team's progress to ensure delivery is on time.
7. Ensure all scrum activities are tracked, and kept up-to-date, and reported on a daily basis.
8. Ensure product quality and timeliness of efforts.
9. Coach and transfer knowledge to in-house staff on the Agile Methodology and SCRUM Framework, or related practices for product delivery.
The Contractor must in addition to the skills and experience set out above, The Contractor should have the following additional skills and experience:
1. Experience conducting all of the Agile Scrum Framework ceremonies, including sprint planning, daily scrum meetings, backlog grooming and product demos. (5 years)
2. Experience maintaining relevant metrics that help the team see how they are doing, and leveraging metrics to continuously improve the team's efficiency and performance. (2 years)
3. Experience liaising between product management, developers, testers and business stakeholders to foster quality communication
4. Experience working with personnel and product owners on an active basis to manage product backlogs and sprint activities.
5. Experience coaching or mentoring technology professionals and business stakeholders on the Agile Methodology and SCRUM Framework, and related practices for product delivery. (3 years)
6. Understanding of modern software development patterns, tools and practices to support Agile team members.
7. Experience on complex IT projects with multiple Agile teams and with frameworks, such as Large Scale Scrum (LeSS), and Scaled Agile (SAFe). Certification
